L-Sealers 101
L-sealers are used every day in manufacturing facilities around the world to secure and protect products of all shapes and sizes. Manual and automatic L-sealers come in a range of sizes and sealing capacities. When choosing an L-sealer, match the machine to your product dimensions, required packages-per-minute, and desired level of automation.
What is an L-Sealer?
An L-sealer encloses a product with shrink film. A typical system includes an adjustable product tray that separates the center-folded film so the product sits between the upper and lower layers. The product moves to the sealing area where an “L”-shaped heated seal head closes to create a tight, clean seal, forming a loose bag around the product.
L-sealers can be paired with a shrink tunnel to tighten the film around the product. Many setups use a separate tunnel; combo units integrate both on one frame—for example, Eastey’s VS1620 Value Series Combo Unit.
Manual L-Sealers
Manual L-sealers are simple to set up and operate. Place the product on the tray, then move it into the seal area. The operator pulls down the L-shaped seal bar; magnetic clamps hold it for the configured dwell time (typically 1–5 seconds). When the seal completes, the head releases, and the next product can be positioned.
Eastey manual L-sealers are available with hot-wire or hot-knife seal heads and run a wide variety of films, including polyolefin, polyethylene, and PVC. After sealing, a takeaway conveyor can feed directly into a shrink tunnel. In some applications (e.g., airline blankets), a loose protective bag is preferred, and no tunnel is needed.

Automatic L-Sealers
For higher volumes, automatic L-sealers increase throughput by automating product feeding and sealing. Place products on the infeed conveyor; the machine advances them through the film, lowers the seal bar automatically, and produces a clean, consistent seal. Sealed products can move directly to a shrink tunnel for finishing.
