- >Update LTD's Unique CHT Process
|"CHT Promises You Protection for Your Drill Bits, Perforators, Slitters and Scores so They Last Longer"|
Have you heard about the CHT process yet?
Not only is it effective in prolonging the life of your drill bits, but it also increases production and reduces spoilage. It has proven itself to be a must have product that any bindery or print finishing operator could benefit from.
It is a fact of life in the bindery and print finishing industries that wear and tear on machines and equipment leads to various problems and setbacks that affect productivity. What seem like such simple tasks can often be quite difficult when trying to make things run smoothly.
In terms of paper drilling, a number of issues could arise such as clogged, dull or broken drills, ruined lifts of paper, damage to drill head spindles and more. A major issue that is an operator’s worst nightmare is ruining a finished printed piece on the last step out the door. Dull drill bits are the leading cause of this and it’s expensive.
One of the more common results of a ruined dull drill bit is ragged holes or depressed paper product from “punching”. This causes excessive heat in turn, and can literally curl your drill tip. It ruins the drill bit and the job. In order to prevent this heat degradation from happening, Update Ltd offers you the CHT process.
The CHT process, which is unique to Update Ltd, is a value added service offered to provide longer lasting parts. CHT, which stands for chemicals, heat and time, are three variables that, when combined, help to enhance the wear of your products, promising more effective and durable parts. CHT can come in a number of different coatings, such as Teflon, titanium nitride, chrome finish, and carbide sputter, which can be applied to equipment or products of various materials. CHT is most suited for drills, stitcher parts, perforators and slitters and cutting tools.
Not only does the CHT process help drills run cooler, but it helps prevent clogging as well. The core of paper removed or drilled out, commonly referred to as a chad or plug of paper, can get clogged inside the drill. The CHT coating lowers the coefficient of friction, thus helping in preventing a clog and speeds up the drilling process as well.
CHT can double or even triple the length of life in the drill bits, depending on the application. This value added service will make your drilling process easier, quicker and more productive.
That’s what the CHT process promises you; protection for your drills so they last much longer. Who wouldn’t want that?
Aside from its benefits for drill bits, CHT can help with so much more in the bindery and print finishing industry. The CHT process also works great for cutting parts, such as slitters and perfs, and a fraction of critical stitcher parts. Although the number of stitcher parts you can apply the CHT process to is small, the parts you can use it for are greatly benefitted and/or improved by it. Specific to slitters, perfs, and sometimes scores, the titanium nitrite in the CHT increases Rockwell, or surface hardness, of the metal by two to four points, which increases the life of the tool. In fact, slitters, scores, and perfs with CHT run 3 to 5 times longer than your standard tool. This will help you produce better work as well as save money. Talk about a great reason to use CHT!
